    Wood I. D

Thanks guys. Looking at that wood database link for sapele, there is another link for genuine mahogany, which looks more like my piece. If it does turn out to be genuine, I think I may set it aside as a guitar building piece with my son

    Wood I. D

Hey all. I was just given a nice slab of wood, approx 4 feet long, 8 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches thick (roughly). I was originally told it was oak, however after receiving it, I'm kind of thinking it looks like mahogany. Could anyone let me know from these images please...

    Sandpaper storage

I've recently been on a sandpaper buying frenzy, picking up odd packs at car boots, or a load of wet n dry on offer at bnq and so on. I was wondering what any of you guys did to store it all. I'm going to opening all the packs and separating them into the various grades and I'm looking for a...

    Diamond sharpening stones

    Best day ever!

Since I decided to try my hand at a little wood working, I've been looking for some form of bench. It had very specific requirements, in terms of size, stability, features and cost. Basically I was after something that had an end and side vice, could easily fit a space of less than 2m x 1m...oh...

    Router issue.

Hi. Thanks for the reply, and I agree with the point on safety. After I first purchased a router, I admit I was one of those people that just threw a bit in turned it on and expected a perfect finish. Obviously, due to lack of skill and knowledge, things didn't go to plan, and I'm probably quite...

    Router issue.

Thank you. I think it's probably time to get a decent router that can handle more than balsa wood :-) Anyone want to buy a guitar to finance it? :-D Sent from my GT-I9300

    Router issue.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's only a b and q performance thing, variable speed, 1/4 inch collet. I've just taken the plunge spring out and it has given me a couple of mm extra, but really I would have expected more range past the base plate. The table top is around 4mm cast aluminium. It's...

    Router issue.

Hey all. I'm after a little advice about routers if you would be so kind. I've had a cheapo BandQ router for a couple of years that got used once for a specific purpose, which went badly mostly to my lack of knowledge on their use. Now I'm getting into woodwork a bit more, I decided to dig out...
