My wife's cousin asked if I could make her something for a young pals birthday. She decided to buy him something and kept this for herself. Jiroma

Sorry to impose on your generous assistance but what would the minimum thickness of stock be to make the octagon. For example would 12 or 15mm ply be ok. I'm not concerned with the weight it has to support as that will be minimal but I am curious as to the mating surfaces for glue up. JK

Thanks Steve, I am in the UK but sometimes my brain doesn't engage before typing. I understand now but I dont have a planer wide enough. I had hoped that if 1 cut was off on my saw table they would all be off and correct the problem but I see what you mean if they are off by .5 of a degree...

Hi all, I want to build a base for a table approx 24 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter in maybe octagon or decagon shape ..or whatever the number of individual slats turns out to be. I just wondered if anyone knew a way to work out the size of the slats and the angle they should be cut at to...

Hi all, I saw a method of securing a door on a woodworking forum somewhere that had a lockable wheel that when turned drove a long rod/bolt into the floor and the header of the door frame at the same time. I've attached a sketch which hopefully will prompt someone to remember where I can find...

    Toy Box

Hi All, I'm making a toy box in MDF and as the lid will be quite heavy I thought it would be a good idea to install some kind of damper effect or soft close mechanism to keep small fingers safe. I have found this type of thing but as this is for a flap that drops down I'm not sure if this would...

    Radiator cover

Hi all, I'm planning on making a couple of rad covers and my wife is not keen because she like the fact that she can drape washing over them during the winter. What I'd like to do is incorporate some sort of rail that can perhaps slip in and out from the gap at the top which would give her...
