    recovering goods not paid for

Great result. Seeing as the guy is on the market for a new cabinet maybe you could take him a copy of your catalogue?

    recovering goods not paid for

Can you get in touch with the previous shop owner to make a statement that the dresser isn't part of the shop fittings and to recap on the original terms of the agreement in writing. It might just take the wind out of the sails of the new owner. Did you by any chance put a makers mark on the...

    Workshop build epic

I've enjoyed reading this thread, I wish my neighbours were as close as yours are, I wouldn't mind starting a new turning on the lathe at 10:30PM then! Great thread and pics, cheers for sharing. :D

    Tape measure accuracy

Well worth knowing, thanks for the tip. My pet hate with tape measures is badly designed lock buttons, they always seem to be really brittle and protrude too much and as I result I have very few with it intact. Stanley FatMax lasted a day, Stabila (an awful tape to read) lasted a week. The...

    Felled branches - species?

I will get some better pics tomorrow, I'll be down that way with the dog. I need to get a pocket bark identification book for my travels if anyone has any suggestions on that? It's only bits for turning, no specific use in mind but I want to try and build up a bit of a rolling stock. Split...

    Felled branches - species?

I have found these close to my home and just looking to identify the tree. I'm also a bit excited it may have started 'spalting', would you agree?

Post a photo of the last thing you made

I finished this today for a friend. His dad is an Amateur Boxing timekeeper and he thought he should have a replacement for the lead bossing stick he's been using. I made this from Oak from an old spiked post in a barn that I picked up last week. First time I made anything like this project...

    can you identify this timber

Another shot after rough turning. I will have to wait for daylight to get a shot of the bark. All I know is the wood has been in the barn at least 10 years!

    can you identify this timber

I've come across a barn due for demolition and the farmer is clearing it all out ready. I have picked up 8 planks of this wood but I don't know what it is. I would upload some more pics but can't get the files small enough.

Thanks for the reply Dave. The lathe is Blue, it has British Steel casting marks on the bed which I presume means it's before 1995. I can't find any other date marks other than the motor is a Brook Crompton one.

Thanks Mod for your reply. I take it back I have posted a stupefying dull question from the number of replies?
