Sold Elektra Beckum HC260 Planer Thicknesser for sale.

Elektra Beckum HC260 Planer Thicknesser for sale, collection from Leicester. I excitedly bought this machine a few years ago, paid £180 for it like a clown! It's from the 70's, and should be no surprise I suppose that it did not run totally perfectly, and I never really used it. Ended up buying...

Is putting glued wood through a spindle moulder dangerous?

Hello, I am very much a beginner and soon I am going to be using a spindle moulder I have got for the first time. I am going to try and make some windows which will be my first ever project. I'm going to be extremely careful using the spindle moulder, and something has come up that I don't...

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

Thanks a lot for the advice Pete, sorry to hear of the problems with your HC260. The attractive thing about getting a new HC260 was at least I can send it back if for example the thicknesser is out of alignment. The old machines definitely have their plus points your right. I have spent a LOT...

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

Have spent another day on the machine today and concluded the thicknesser bed is out of alignment. That can be sorted out I understand but I am going to sell this one and get a brand new machine. Probably another HC260. I would like the Record pt260 but that costs a fair bit more. Seems like...

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

I got the planer running pretty good today - not good enough but way better than any point previously. I got the knife setting jig mentioned yesterday. Whilst it does not let me magically set the blades correctly by itself, it does make the whole tedious process of trial and error an awful lot...

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

Yes that would be correct! Now I see it being used that way in one of the pics on the charnwood site. Apologies. I'm going to get a pair of these jigs.

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

Hi everybody, I started this thread last summer. Sincere thanks for all your help last year :) I was a novice with an old machine, I had quite a bit of frustration getting true results out of my old 1979 Elektra Beckum HC260. Unfortunately something happened around that time that took...

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

Here's a summary of how things turned out, for the benefit of others contemplating making the same mistake. Just to recap, I got an old 100078 series Elektra Beckum HC260, looked on youtube how to set the blades and fantasically found Peter Parfitt making a video on just that - and on the very...

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

Actually there is no HG260 machine as I thought there was in prev post. Reason I thought there was was because there is a tonne of adverts all over the world, all saying 'suitable for HG260', but tonight I noticed they are all ads from the same seller! I think 1 typo has been replicated all over...

    A gruesome hand saw restoration...

I read about this a few days ago on BBC website. The poor guy said the saw had "curved teeth" and "simply would not cut in a straight line" I expect this is related. Horrible, yet lucky to get his hand saved.

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

It's seems pretty clear that the blades have been ground down so much over the years they are no longer deep enough. But it's less straightforward than I imagined to find the correct parts. I think because I have one of the oldest hc 260's it's trickier because the is a much bigger chance the...

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

That's a good idea but probably a bit adventurous for me tbh. Well I just used the planer properly for the first time. I used my sharpened blades, and existing backplates. It was not that difficult to get the blades 'kind of ok' without the allen keys to do the fine tuning. Now as ever, my...

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

Disappointing result today! I got one of these https://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product/Met ... gLEx_D_BwE And I got my blades sharpened (260x3mm) and I was pretty confident it was all going to fit! But it does not :( The slot in the cutter block is 9mm wide, and even with no blades the new blade...
