union jubilee 3phase to 1phase questions.

Thanks for the replies, I had not thought about the coil being wound for 415v. That makes sense. It looks like an old switch so probably original will check it out this week. Hopefully I can get it all switched over easy enough, found the wiring diagram for the motor (which still has the price...

union jubilee 3phase to 1phase questions.

I apologise if this is the type of question that gets asked all the time but I have have been looking around for a while and cant quite figure it out. I just got a union jubilee in good nick apart from the fact that the previous owner was in the process of switching over to single phase. So I...

    An alternative to designing?

in my comparison i said it was quicker and easier to use.i was not belittling it. i just commented that there are other programs which deliver a more photo-realistic image. i if read my original post i was making the point that it would be perfect for byronblack as its quick and easy nature...

    An alternative to designing?

i agree that sketchup is perfect for the "average woodworker" probably above average. i still think however that a professional package does deliver a better image. i realise that this level of detail won't apply to most people but there is a professional environment where a sketchup model looks...

    An alternative to designing?

that level of detail requires hours of time in a rendering program. sketchup is not as good as other programs in terms of the model before rendering. if it was it wouldn't be free. don't get me wrong i love sketchup. if you look at things i have posted you will see i use it all the time. but i...

    An alternative to designing?

i like sketchup because it is so basic and intuitive. it won't give you a professional looking model but its free and quicker to use than say rhino3d or inventor. i think a series of mockups are invaluable if you think it looks a bit oiff you just go again. not as easy when its finished in oak

the finished log. the leaves are the speaker holes. i made it a little more difficult for myself by getting rid of the toggle switch and making the entire volume disc into a push button for the power.

    WIP cutting board (finished)

but the board has endgrain facing up so surely cupping in the normal sense wouldn't happen

i've tapered the end grains to make the whole log visually lighter. the end discs are hand planed to make them contrast with the bandsaw finish on the sides. sorry for the quality but these pics are all from my phone. end discs just 9mm thick test fit of the tuning control finished power...

the two discs sit in a housing so that should make it a little easier. also for some unknown reason my college has more strap clamps than you could shake a stick at. is just though i should clarify. it is not glued in the pictures that just a dry fit.

this is a very simplified version of the volume control. the volume potentiometer is attaced to the pendulum. this is a model of the power switch and the tuning. the tuning will be a wooden disc which protrudes through one of the end discs. this shows the position of the tuning and power...

ive started a new college course. for the first project we were given a plank of rough sessile oak from the woodschool in the scottish borders and an fm radio. we have to design and make a structure which will support a person and it has to be interactive in some way. mine is a log which rolls...
