Domino connector system with 17mm ply

That's great to know, thanks pulleyt. I do have a tendancy to worry over fractions of a mm, and this was made worse as I'm using a new technique I have no experience of. I think I was a bit thrown this morning when the ply arrived as I've used a fair bit of 18mm birch ply in the past, but it's...

Domino connector system with 17mm ply

Anybody used the Festool domino connector system with 17mm ply? First time I've used this system - ordered 18mm ply (min thickness for the connector system according to Festool) but the actual ply is around 17.2mm, which I'm not best pleased about. I accept there is going to be some tolerance...

    Unusual shelf brackets

This is a bit of a longshot but anyway. I'm putting together a quote for a client who would like some shelves built to replicate these: https://www.archiproducts.com/en/products/breuer-bono/open-plywood-shelving-unit-open_344061 The shelves are a narrow depth (only 11cm) and they sit away from...

    General purpose plane

OK fine, I think you've actually convinced me that I'm being a bit pretentious here and nothing wrong with looking second hand and learning some new skills along the way. I do have a reputation for being pretty tight but I guess in this case, I've been worried about buying a dud. So this one...

    General purpose plane

Interesting debate and I can see both sides of the argument. I'm all for picking up an eBay bargain (have done it plenty of times over the years) but, in this case, my time is at a premium (young kids, full time business) so my thought process was that I'd rather spend what precious time I do...

    General purpose plane

Hi guys, just checked back in. Thanks for all the replies - more information here than I could ever have wished for, much appreciated. I am loathe to go down the second hand route simply because I don't know what I should be looking for and I'd need to learn more skills just to get the plane up...

    General purpose plane

Novice woodworker here, just in the process of building my tool collection. Can anyone recommend a decent all-purpose plane at a reasonable price? Initially, the plane will mainly be used for smoothing table tops after they've been edge-jointed. I'm aware Lie-Nielsen are high quality, top end...

Wall mounted extractor for planer thicknesser

Update which I hope will help others. I opted for the Axminster Craft AC37E extractor in the end. I've wall mounted it with a 4m hose. Put a fairly rough piece of timber over the planer several times and the extractor has coped admirably. No clogging whatsoever. Nice quiet machine too and love...

    Free Helping Hand?

Best of luck to you Bailey. What an incredible attitude you have! You certainly deserve to succeed. I would wish you luck, but with an attitude like yours I don't think you'll need it! Keep putting yourself out there and the opportunities will come to you.

Wall mounted extractor for planer thicknesser

Thanks. Looking at some other related threads currently, the Charnwood W685 gets mentioned a lot. https://www.charnwood.net/products/product/wall-mounted-dust-extractor-w685/category_pathway-109 Somebody mentioned they used it fine with their 260PT. Mind you, it has a flow rate of 850m3/hour...

Wall mounted extractor for planer thicknesser

Hi I'm setting up a small workshop in my garage. Was lucky enough to pick up an Axminster AT310SPT planer thicknesser second hand for a decent price. I'm looking at chip extraction options now. Ideally I want something that is wall-mounted as space is at a premium and obviously at a reasonable...
