    Looking for some advice!

Hello, not knowing what to make stumped me at first. I searched online for free woodworking plans and as an aside got directed to various, mainly American, websites where they videoed the making of that week's project. Like Drunken Woodworker, Steve French, the Carmichael Workshop and so on...

Not having a lot of luck

I fitted my Elektra Beckum 315 bandsaw with the Bedford Saw guide conversion. Simple enough if you have an air hacksaw handy. I also changed the tensioner to a 10mm rod with a thrust bearing (thanks for the idea, Woodpig) to make it easier to tension. All fine and dandy, good tension, no blade...

    Bandsaw Problem

I used to snap blades on my old 3 wheel saw because I used too thick a blade, as Beau points out. On my new 2 wheel saw, I followed the youtube videos but still couldn't get rid of the flutter. Then I removed the tyres and put them in my ultrasonic cleaner. Now they are spotless and I have no...

    Elektra Beckum 315 bandsaw

Unfortunately (?) I bought several blades from Hamilton Beverstock. Should I put them in the spares department? I only do simple stuff at the moment I like having the best tools for the job, they go some way to make up for my lack of ability. I can't blame the tools! I doubt if I need the...

    Elektra Beckum 315 bandsaw

Hello, I've only just moved into making sawdust, I usually mangle metal, turning brass into very expensive swarf (clocks). I've been making band saw boxes, nothing too taxing yet. Some cuckoo clock cases and an English Dial clock case are on the agenda. I got my saw ridiculously cheap so I was...

    Elektra Beckum 315 bandsaw

Hello, apologies if this is in the wrong section. I have just watched the Carter 'Setting up your band saw' video. No wonder I was having trouble. Question: has anyone any experience of the Carter Stabilizer? Is there a UK version? Worth importing? Thanks for any help.

    Elektra Beckum 315 worry wart

Sorry, another question. The book of words for the saw (thanks for the link) suggests the narrowest blade is 1/4 inch. Is there anything to stop me using an 1/8 inch wide blade? I'd like to do some bandsaw boxes...

    Elektra Beckum 315 worry wart

Hello, thanks for the advice. I initially broke the blades on the 3 wheeler by buying blades that were too thick, once I'd bought thinner blades it was much better. After that it was operator error, sawing a 5" block of green chestnut is bound to cause some problems! Now I know not to worry, I...

    Elektra Beckum 315 worry wart

Hello, I'm usually a metal basher, clock making really, but I've veered into woodwork. I have bought a German made Elektra Beckum 315 bandsaw . I have noticed that as standard, there is no pressure spring in the blade tensioner. Should I be worried? Should I try to fit one? Are they any good...
