    An odd project!

Arduino, stepper motor(s) and possibly contact switches. The parts would be 30 pounds-ish depending on where you get them from (cough * AliExpress * cough). Learning to program the Arduino and build a proof of concept would take a beginner a day. Handling the 'numbers on two arms' would only...

    Corner routing jig

Youtube has rules? I get all my UK comedy minutes (I'm in the current home of the RUGBY WORLD CUP!) after it airs (more or less) from Youtube. Even artistic nudity is okay (apparently...).

Cabinet doors - rebate or slot?

Hey, thanks for the replies, and I really like the idea of spines made from the 9mm. If they turn out okay, I'll post some pics ;) Cheers Simon

Cabinet doors - rebate or slot?

Hi all, I'm making some cabinet doors in the weekend, no fancy sketchup file or anything  . The design's more or less finalised in my head but I wondered about the doors. The frames will be 18mm MDF so the rails and stiles will be roughly 70mm wide. The panels will be 9mm MDF. Frames...

    Fraction calculator

On the vague subject of "Ain't no substitute for cubes" etc, here's a video of a Top Fuel dragster's fuel injector: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGTbQuhhluY In metric or imperial, that's a lot of petrol (gas). <Note: Might be methanol>

    Bench top support

I bought some of these: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Conveyor ... 19865.html (Free freight!) and plan to make a couple of omni-directional saw supports, possibly just clamp them in my folding work bench things (Those uber-cheap ones).

Joining two cabinet units - hardware suggestion request

Hi, Making a new wardrobe for my daughter. The cases are 18mm MDF and I'll be making 3 units 600mm wide and joining them in situ. I'm thinking countersunk bolts with matching countersunk internally threaded bolt through each side but there has to be an accepted method with hardware that exists...

    Fraction calculator

The US of A, Liberia and Myanmar. A fact I trot out when people wax lyrical about the imperial measurement. Having said that, I am appalled our Subaru gets 15mpg and disappointed I'm 5'11" and not 6". Hearing of people measured in stones (on UK tv), takes me back to NZ in the seventies...

    Cheap table Saw project

Get some ideas from the excellent Matthias Wandel's videos on YouTube. I find his videos an excellent source of ideas as his approach is very economical and thoughtful.

    when dovetailing avoid this video....

Adam Savage had some issues with technique, but I'd learn as much watching a talented guy like him look at his first effort and look to where he could improve - that's exactly what I'd do if I hadn't bought an Incra LS positioner... But that's okay - I'm grateful there's so many people putting...

    MDF screws and glue.....

I was reading this thread this morning, then came across this interesting video from Matthias Wandel about the strength of glue joints. I like his experimental method, but don't want to start an argument on here. Just thought it was worth sharing.
