    Replacement DW733 Blade aligners??

Hi all, Have a Dewalt 733 Type 2 that has a quite ridiculously poorly engineered design for replacing the blades - I can see in more recent models they've improved this, but hey...! I can't find the alignment gauges for mine - they're not in the usual slot and I can't see any in stock online...

Best tool to cut thin metal trims at speed?

Great thoughts all - really helpful! Id not really tried snips - it's generally 1-3mm I'm cutting, so no particularly thick. I've tried cheap snips in the past and they bent the metal a bit (like blunt scissors), but maybe a good pair would be the trick here....!

Best tool to cut thin metal trims at speed?

Hi all, Just looking for a bit of advice as to what tool I should be looking for. I'm fairly frequently needing to cut thin strips of metal for trimming things (this will include mitre and angle cuts). I've used a chopsaw for this in the past, but this is often quite dangerous as the blade...

Best way to produce lots of threaded screws in wood?

Sorry - haven't got a lathe yet, so happy to get whatever suits. My CNC is a standard 3 axis, so no A axis unfortunately! Threadbox looks like a good solution, although I guess I'd need to make one for each thread size I'd want, also a bit more labour intensive if I was producing lots of...

Best way to produce lots of threaded screws in wood?

Hi all, I'm looking to create a load of threaded screws in wood. I have a CNC, so it can easily create the inside screw parts, but won't have the depth required to create long screws. I figure I need a lathe of some sorts to achieve this, can anyone recommend the sort of setup I need? It...

Help! Osmo Top Oil turned my walnut white!

Hmm ok, tried about three coats of white spirit and it's improved slightly, but not dramatically. I'm just using a sponge at the moment to rub it - should I go with something more abrasive?

Help! Osmo Top Oil turned my walnut white!

Hi all, Ok, tried first rub of White spirit - I 'think' this may have marginally improved, obviously need to wait for it to dry to tell for sure. Any tips on best approach - could put rotex/mirka deros on it with sponge or something if quicker....!? Should I let it soak in first or just rub...

Help! Osmo Top Oil turned my walnut white!

Hi all, just applied the second coat of Osmo Topsoil Clear Satin to a new walnut console I've made. I was going to go with walnut oil, but figured I'd try this as it will take a battering with keys and other hard objects over the years. It's come out looking very 'whitewashed' - I may have...

    Timber suppliers in UK

Heh, yes - I've looked around a bit. I live in Perthshire - they're a struggle to find (at least ones that stock hardwoods like walnut and have a solid standard - had a few where the wood had been left to the elements a bit which just makes working it harder!)

    Timber suppliers in UK

Hi all, Just curious if there's any decent timber suppliers that are used by you all. I've been buying increasing volumes of hardwoods (oak and walnut especially) for projects, so conscious that costs begin to rack up! I've used British Hardwoods before who seem pretty good - but wondering if...

    Name for this hinge type??

Hi folks, I'm building a crib for our baby (due in four weeks....!) and I'm trying to order some hardware to allow the crib to swing, but trouble is I don't know what it's called and so can't google it! This is the style I'm looking to build: http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Sw ...
