I have been watching a fair few videos about this and was keen to get something in the future but looking at the prioces its somewhat expensive, what are peoples experience of them and what would they recomend?

Thanks

I have a Woodcut Bowlsaver and it is fine, has one limitation in that it will only work over the bed and not off the end as it need tailstok for support. So I can only core blanks that are less than 40cm diameter, It is a shame as I often get much bigger blanks and have to lose ALL of the possible cores.

Works a lot easier on wet/green wood.

The Kel McNaughton one (from Toolpost) is great. A bit of setting up and 'knack getting' required, but probably the most flexible in terms of both size and shape of cores.

Look out for Mike Mahoney on the Tube for an introductory demo

I use the woodcut Max 3 this goes up to 425mm diameter its a cinch to use but comes at a cost. Also for the bigger blanks you do need a powerful lathe.
