Ivy Leaves Yew

8 inch x 4 inch, Yew Platter, with carved leaves. My first attempt at any carving, so iv'e ordered a book, and am looking at doing a short relief carving course.

I enjoyed doing this piece.

Was turned first to a dish shape from an 8x4x2 stock planked from a log i got while down at Boysies place in the summer ( thanks Eugene ! )

Great piece for starters Loz, watching several of the carvers doing their thing at the recent Westonbirt event left me with an itch to do similar but reality set in on returning home when I realised I would not have the patience to spend that amount of time developing the skill let alone completing a piece.

You've got more patience than me Loz. That much carving would send me barmy. Especially as I know it wouldn't be as good. Love to be able to do it but can't.
