So I've a nice (I think) bowl on the lathe just now, but there are a lot of smallish cracks in it about 25-40 mm long each. I want to fill these with a contrasting dust and to finish the bowl, and if I oiled it before progressing too much to filling the cracks and sanding the piece (I've done a 60 grit run already) would this help to prevent CA running into the surrounding wood?

Thanks, as ever!

If it's still in rough state use a sanding sealer. (cellulose dries almost instantly)
As you appear to prefer oil finish the sealer should be removed during final finishing to allow the oil to penetrate the wood.
