Have you seen the "wooden cravat" that Grinling Gibbons carved for Horace Walpole?

And in the Chinese National Museum in Taiwan I've seen even more intricate carving, they had an incredible piece which was a number of concentric filligree balls which from memory took three generations of a carving family something like fifty years to make.
 
That is unbelievable work, ive did a fair bit of modelling in the past and can appreciate the paint work alone must have been 100's of hours never mind getting it ready to paint
