Cyclone hose size

My cyclone has 55mm ports, my hoover (Festool CT 17 E) has 27mm hose, would it be better if I increased the hose size to 63mm from the hoover to the cyclone? At the moment there is still a lot more dust entering the hoover than I expected, I thought perhaps this was due to the difference in the size of hose.

I wouldn't suggest sizing the hose any larger than it was originally designed for - it will only have a negative effect on the suction.

With regards to performance, is it dust that's still coming through to the vac, or chips? Cyclones are primarily chip separators, so fine dust will still come through in most cases.
