One for people who think the quality of components has diminished -

It is worth recalling the perspective of the astronaut John Glenn, on climbing into the Atlas rocket: “I felt exactly how you would feel if you were getting ready to launch and knew you were sitting on top of two million parts — all built by the lowest bidder on a government contract.”

I think the biggest gripe I have is not the customer service but the Axminster tools brochure.
20 years ago I would fall asleep in bed with it weighting my chest down. Like having a couple of bricks on top of you.
They had everything in that catalogue and you didn't need to look anywhere else.
The advent of online shopping was growing and today anyone can buy a crate of anything from China at low prices.
I doubt it will ever return to those times and the catalogue today is of magazine thickness.

It is that thin as they are increasingly only stocking stuff with their badge only - not good
