    AT1628VS & Patriot Chuck

Howdy folks, long time no speak. I noted that Axi are £200 off the 1628 at the mo and I was about to pull the trigger and buy it (to finally replace my Coronet Elf) when I thought I would stop and check the chuck insert. It would seem that Sorby list an M33 x 3.5 insert but nobody seems to...

    Dark Oak?

Folks Does anyone know where I can get a darkish oak bowl blank? Client is looking for about 8"x2.5" and would prefer the dark oak as "it matches the wardrobes". Random request, I know. I have looked at eBay, Yandles and TR but all they seem to have is light/white oak. TIA! Collin

    Where did I go wrong?

It is fast becoming obvious to me that I have still have lots to learn, far more than I first thought! I turned this bowl from a spalted (hardly) white elm blank that was given to me. From tooling the surfaces were smooth and ready for sanding. Starting at 120 grit I went through to 600 and by...

Wood ID and a quick question

Hi All First off, can anyone ID this wood for me please? And the question At the point where I am I am undecided whether to part this off as it is and let it stand alone, or leave the tenon on the bottom and make a base for it. The piece is just under 4 inches long. Which would you do and...

    Is there a trick?

Can one of the Coronet single bed way owners please share how on earth they get the tail stock lined up straight when doing spindle work? I have just spent an hour turning a candlestick in a piece of Iroko, removed the tail stock to hollow out for the cup and the piece moved about 7mm, throwing...
