Updgrading motor on Kity 619 saw - worth it?

Good stuff. I have the 1619 as well in a different workshop (get me with two!) - and i really like that - seems more than powerful and large enough - but it has a brake while the 619 doesnt, and I suppose its the comparison in use that makes it feel worse.

Updgrading motor on Kity 619 saw - worth it?

Sound advice then - the cost outweighs the benefits. I've ordered some new blades from Wealdon, will give it a good clean and lubrication and see how she performs.

Updgrading motor on Kity 619 saw - worth it?

I've a Kity 619 saw, single phase. It cost me 200 quid ... nice solid top, sliding carriage, etc - feels like it shouldn't owe me much. But it's an old model - 1994! And the motor has no brake on it which I don't really like... I haven't actually had a chance to really get into the case to...

Track and stops for mitre saw station

Thanks for these - good ideas on both ends of the spectrum. I do like Darren's idea of a removable back fence so being able to use the full depth of the worktop area for other purposes... Flip Stop rails look good, but probably more expensive that the UKJ Track & Stop stuff - i need to work...

Track and stops for mitre saw station

I'm due to build a mitre saw station for my Kapex - with around 2m to the left, 1m to the right of the saw. I'd like to incorporate aluminium track along the top of an MDF fence - something that has an incorporated tape measure and track grooves for sliding stop blocks of some form. Has anyone...

    Best Source for Blanks?

There's nothing more tedious and more likely to turn people away from using forums (to which I have donated to support) that pointless pedantry. If you haven't got anything to usefully say, stay sat on you hands.

    Best Source for Blanks?

Have you contacted your local council - in particular, try to find a number to get through to the team that works on Parks and general public space management. I reached out to the local depot manager here in Oxford and have a deal where I arrange in advance, pop in (wearing steel toecaps and...

Record Power lathe bar swap anyone?? My longuns for your shortuns

Hello all, I have a Record Power CL3 with an adjustable base. It has the long bars - I think these create 36" between centres. Realistically I never use the full length as I prefer to turn bowls and smaller items and to be honest it just takes up too much room. I spoke to Record and they...

Metering the workshop electrical supply query

I have a house which is tenanted. At the rear of the garden some 25m away I have a shed, which is fenced off from the garden/house and access is via a rear alleyway - this gives me sole use of that shed (lawnmower, maintenance tools etc). I have a heavy gauge extension lead which when I...

Planking a walnut log - worth it?

Hello all, Recently came by some walnut trees felled locally - the main trunks are straight and without major twists or knots, diameter at the base is around 18" and narrows to around 12-15" over the length I guess 5 - 6ft straight length. Sorry - not got any pics to post. A local sawyer...

Best way to deal with some green logs - sycamore and cherry

Greetings all, I've just joined the forums so be gentle with me. Im a very beginner woodworker/turner just starting to try and learn a bit more technique and develop some skills for what has always been a bit of a bodge-hobby, so grateful for any advice - no doubt as I get going i'll be a bit...
