I'm looking to replace my woodworking vice. What make/type and size should I be looking for?

Corset has a Record non Q/R vice. Good one, and is the RIGHT price..

O and it has no slide in and out feature as well

Advice for buying used vices.....
Always ensure the jaws meet at the top (the pinch).
There should be a good fit where the bars run through the casting.
Use a 6" piece of 4X2 and place in vice in all 3 orientations clamping it up as tight as you dare :shock: This should ensure there is no cam out on the thread/keeper where it has been regularly used :wink: (ps it makes you jump when it go's bang :roll: ) .
Slack n wobbly (run away)
Examine castings carefully
The old Record stuff is good quality along with Woden branded stuff 8)

If the two parties get together, and explore t'internet thingy, they could find an acceptable level of carriage from one firm of carriers or another.
Otherwise, of course Blister, you could move to Nottingham.
I was trying to be helpful to both parties. Why do I bother?

I don't think I can bounce my item again due to the forum rules but in the interest of not seeing stuff go to waste. The vice is now free but the recipiant must collect or I can pop it in a box for collection but I will not be able do this for a week or so if you want to have it collected.

Once more, I am sure if you use P4D.co.uk or a similar courier arranging firm, you will be able to get your vice collected from your home and taken to a destination for around £10.00 at the most.
I sent a WoodRat through those people from the Midlands to Yorkshire and that cost just £13.00. That would be a good deal heavier and bulkier than your vice.
If you don't care to try that that's fair enough. But I think at £10.00 plus another ten for carriage, the vice is still a decent price. RIGHT or LEFT as some 'wag' says!

I don't need a vice, but if I did, I wouldn't object to paying £20.00 for your Record. A new one would set me back more than that. If not then I accept, I might be talking out of my armpit.

I know you are talking good sense I had 4 no. 16”wheels with tyres delivered from Holyhead to Warwickshire for £30. Just looked on ebay and UNITED PARCELS are offering:
