Hi i'm new here and am looking for some advice.
i'm not sure if im in the right section either???

I've just recently made a rocking horse (Basic panel type) with Pine laminate, and finished it by staining and varnishing.
However, the response has been that good, several people have said I should make more and sell them.
But due to the size of wood to make the thing cost £37 plus varnish etc, I cant see me putting a reasonable price on this which people can fork out for, or buy cheaper types.

Sooo, I was wondering? if I painted them, what type of wood would be strong enough to hold a toddler, and would be ideal for painting? Would I need to prime with special primers? Would I need to lightly sand between coats like varnishing?

To give an idea on the size, I would be buying in a sheet 1800 x 500 x 18mm

Many Thanks!!

rub down and prime with waterbased primer / undercoat then water based spray do a nice dapple on to the white primer i was a painter and decorator it needs some colour play with it untill your hapy with it

People do keep saying that don't they, and it's very charming of them.

But what you really need are the people who say they'd like to buy one!

This is the thing. .. they say that then when a reasonable price tag is put on it. .. too much to pay for something handmade! !!
