I have just noticed that when I want to reply to a question.....
the writing box changes to yellow and the photo icon is not highlighted (that whole bar just stay's light grey and unable to get it to highlight)
the only item on that bar thats bright is what looks like a gear = Toggle BB code .........
hope that makes sence....

If you click on that toggle button, it should restore your bar to normal.

@Daniel2 is correct. The gear icon changes the text box from a WYSIWYG format with images and formatted text to seeing only the text with the formatting code and placeholders for the images.
