When not avoiding international incidents, with only moderate success, I was lucky enough to visit the Getty Centre in LA just recently whilst visiting our son in California. It's not just art and sculpture in there - there is some inspirational furniture and carving as well. Here are a few that caught my attention. Not all are to my taste, but the craftsmanship in some of it is breathtaking. Some of the images are not as sharp as i'd like, but the light levels were very low and no tripods or flash were allowed.

Disregarding some of the rembrandts and Turners, if I could only take one thing home with me it would be this pair of reliefs carved from a single block of lime in the late 1700s.
