Just stumbled accross this website, not too sure what to make of it: http://www.maxtool.co.uk

Porter Cable routers etc for just over £100? Granted postage is a bit steep, but it's still miles chaper than anywhere else. Yes it's all 110V stuff, but it's rates at 25-60Hz, so if you've got a 230-110V tranny...could it be too good to be true?

Anyone bought from them, is there a sting in the tail, like a nice big tax bill when the postie calls?

Cheers.

Another dubious American site pretending to be a UK site. Wouldn't worry about getting a big tax bill I'd worry more about getting what you ordered. And they pay the Vat as well, how considerate of them.
Do a forum search or a Google on Nepine, similar set up, now closed by the US authorities.

I'd second Noel's concerns about getting your stuff. Why not ship direct from someone in the USA who's being up-front about it, like Internatuional Tool Corp or Ace Hardware?

Most P-C stuff is pretty robust and will happily run on a 110volt site transformer (that's how I run my P-C stuff), although I'd check the individual model to make sure as there are one or two tools which require 60Hz for the electronic speed control I'm told.

Good evening,

Just for info, this is owned by a:

First registered in 2004 and is operated though UK2.net, a second tier Internet Provider, which doesn't sound too good.

Regards,

Colin
