People's lathes?

Yes ta, that's the one, but I thought that there was more info on there? I have a friend who is possibly looking to get a small lathe. I bought mine about 15 or so years ago and not sure just what's on the market now?

I got the axminster AWSL (£190) in the past year, added the Dakota XT650 chuck set from Rutlands (£120). I'm pretty happy with it so far.

The only thing I would complain of is that the tailstock alignment is poor on mine, and I've seen others complain of that too. Not a problem when you're using a live centre, but it's a bit of an issue if you're drilling out whistles, for example.

I have this, it;s a great little lathe...Got it cheap as a once used demonstrator from record power themselves in chesterfield.

That Record lathe looks like a nice little job. Not too costly either..
