I have seen this piece turned and carved by Richard Morris in cocobolo.
As you can see the turning is relatively simple as you have to keep a fair thickness to allow for the carving.
The drawing of a vast number of lines of different colours, like the method used by Stuart Mortimer is of an extreme precision, then the carving and polishing…. Hour and hours.
But the result is something fantastic.
Don’t you think so?

 
Beautiful piece of work, and gorgeous timber. I always thought I had plenty of patience, but looking at that work, I don't know!
 
A really wonderful piece - I might try it sometime, possibly on a smaller piece to start with - the item you show looks to me to be about 25cm diameter - can you confirm?

I know that it'll be long time before i can do work like that :) but it's always good to have something to aim for :lol:
