Few years ago I got a dewalt 18v xrp plunge saw (old style dewalt batteries) I had dewalt rails at the time, if anyone who has tried to joint 2 rails together they know it’s nearly impossible to get them to stay straight for 2.4 cuts so I brought a 2.6 rail it’s great for making them cuts but pain in the backside for transporting and lugging about etc.
Upgraded to a 54v plunge saw and it’s had another channel in the base so tried it on a mates Festool rails and it worked.
I planned on upgrading to Festool rails that’s when I found these Guide Rail FS 80 (629010000) | Metabo Power Tools
They have joining bars like Mafell/Bosch rails and compatible with most plunge saws on the market.
I got a 1.6 and 2.5 rail that I cut into 1.4 and 1.1 and 2 joiners I have to say I think there really good only thing is I got some Makita style joiners to stiffen up the joint as the joiners are quite flexible.
Then I took to the internet to find a rail square and parallel guides but no one it’s making any for them as there relatively new.
So I made my own parallel guides with some oak and aluminium extrusion. Need to get Festool 1.4 rail and Benchdogs square as definitely can’t make one that would be anywhere near as accurate.
