Been sorting out some old external hard drives and I found this rebuild.

Heavy. Broken. Seized, but complete.

Getting it into the seperate parts was fun. Care had to be taken as replacements parts are not easy to be found.

Yes, that is an old fashion paraffing blow torch. Good heat, but gentle.

Laid out.
No thread was the same, each was hand cut and would only fit into one hole. But there was pop marks on its internal thread and the place it fitted.

The yellow tub is holding bits I was derusting.

This lead to a few bad words. But it was an old fracture.

A braze up hyad it fixed.

Laying up and marking out.

Pitted, but the castings of the head was very good.

Modern outlet fixings. All polished up, waxed and ready.

The internal washers were made from new old stock leather.

Fully working as well.

Really impressive restoration, maybe one day I might restore one I have! It is always nice when something unexpected is found on old CDs or hard drives. I recently found a CD of photos of furniture made in my workshop more than 20 years ago, that I had totally forgotten.
