Clearing through some junk in my garage I came across some plumbing bits that I'd boxed up before moving house ~10 years back. Along with various oddments, including the obligatory bits of copper pipe too short to be of any use, was a JG Speedfit plastic plumbing elbow which I bought as a 'just in case' because I was anticipating some joints in difficult to access positions. Anyway, the originally white connector now has a distinctly unsavoury nicotine yellow look to it - do they typically age like this?
It was stored in a cardboard box with no obvious solvents or volatile substances to explain the yellowing. I suppose you don't normally have this sort of fitting on display, so a minor cosmetic issue isn't really a big deal, but does it signify a more worrying breakdown of the plastic?
