I like my toys so I ordered a couple of igaging measuring tools from the US. They arrived today and I am very pleased with them. They were a Digital Marking Gauge and a Digital Plane/r Setting Gauge.

The Digital Marking gauge is very well made with the main body made from stainless steel, the digital readout is in mm, inches (decimal)and inches in fractions. The maximum depth/length in use is 166.35mm, 6.549" or 6 35/64". The Stem has a scale on it in both metric and imperial and the locking mechanism locks the length well so even if the batteries die (it is supplied with 2 additional spare batteries) the gauge would still be useable.

The Digital Plane Setting Gauge is mainly plastic with a stainless steel pivot pin, this has a pair of rare-earth magnets on the bottom. As the Marking Gauge it displays in mm (decimal), inches (decimal) and inches (fractions). The maximum movement on the gauge is between -1.48 to 3.82mm, -0.0585" to 0.15", -1/16" to 19/128"

Very impressed with these 2 items and will likely order more of the range. Total including shipping was $70 and took 7 days to get here.

I doubt I would use it for setting hand planes to be honest, I bought it to set my Planer knives, but this is a hand plane forum
