Old laptop, overdue for a Hoover out:

Three screws - 1 Pozi, 2 Torx - keyboard then unclips to expose fan and heatsink; two Pozi to remove fan. It took longer to find the right nozzle for Henry.

I'm no fan of Compaq, but credit where it's due: good industrial design. And it's running quiet and cool again.

PS: I'm not being anal - I had a processor fail last year when a desktop overheated.
 
That's the difference between a good, well designed laptop and a cheap one - it comes apart easily for such maintenance.

It does surprise me though that many of them seem to have a finer grade of mesh on the outlet side than the inlet side so are bound to trap fluff...
