Hi all.

I have been tasked with finding new home(s) for some woodworking tools on behalf of my father in law who (due to age) is having to give up his home workshop. During my research for information I found this forum, duly joined, read the rules which states no For Sale ads unless I post 20 times 1st. Great rule but I know nothing about woodwork! I wish to be a decent forum member & behave within the rules, could someone please advise the correct course of action, I really don't want to simply throw this stuff onto eBay or similar as I think it would be so much nicer to go to an enthusiast, maybe someone starting out as a hobby etc. Thanks in advance for any replies, Mark.

PS: All the equipment from his workshop is located in Suffolk if that helps any (my profile shows my location which is in Sussex) & includes both manual & electric tools.

I would start by listing the main tools on this thread and get some advise.

If you are lucky there maybe a forum member close to the location in Suffolk -perhaps you could mention the town.

Or perhaps you should take up woodworking as a hobby and keep them yourself :D

I think you are right to come here for advice, we love looking at tools!

I have done similar for people in your situation before so have a local member cast his eye over your stuff would be good. Last time I helped someone what they thought was good stuff was very mediocre but their rubbish had a few jems in it that yielded a good price particularly when I reassembled parts that had managed to get separated. I refused any reward " the thrill of the discovery" was enough for me.

Thanks both, I'll list the main items here, if admin deem it incorrect then I'll understand. Please excuse my "ignorance" if I get any of the finer details wrong ;)

1: Startrite 351e bandsaw.

2: Draper HD19/16CF freestanding drill.

3: JD Woodward Diamond fretsaw.

4: Rexon DP-200a bench drill.

5: Rexon DTS-16a Profiline fretsaw.

6: Rexon BD-46a belt sander.

These are the main electrical items, needless to say there are numerous manual tools & associated "stuff" to compliment someone with a 20 year woodworking hobby!

Dad is happy to show anyone interested by appointment (based nr Stowmarket), I am backwards & forwards on a regular basis if muscle is needed to help move anything.

PS: There are also several benches in the workshop which will be available once the machinery has been removed.

"We" like chewing the fat with old woodworkers too!
Pity it's too far way for me but there are a few hand tool nuts on here who live quite close.

I've received a pm but can't reply due to forum restrictions, can anyone advise how to make contact within the rules please, I'm not keen on posting phone numbers etc. on the forum, thanks.
