Thinking back to cleaning greasy components we used to use petrol and a brush or for stubborn seized components just leave them in a bucket of diesel for a couple of days, this worked well on the old Triumph 1850 / 2000 engines where you had to remove a row of cylinder head studs to get the head of but would always be corroded.
