Hi can anyone recommend a general purpose ,universal blade for my table saw, I need to replace the contractor 48t blade, it has been reasonable but wonder what makes are good value, it is for a 3hp Multico saw

i would suggest either cutting solutions or weldon tools. I believe that the latter are made by Atkinson Walker.

freud tend to get a good writeup too.
 
There's loads of options, just avoid the really cheap ones and you'll be okay, but whatever you get make sure it really is compatible with your existing riving knife! Check the specs for your saw, on my saw that means a kerf that's about 0.2mm wider than the thickness of the riving knife.
 
I needed one in a pinch and bought the Titan one from screw fix. Been surprisingly pleased for a tenner!

Was that the 24 tooth one or 40 tooth?

The 24 tooth appears to be discontinued, which is a shame. I picked one up locally at the start of January, and it's a little blinder, cuts like a knife through butter and holds it's edge.

I'd buy another half dozen if they still did them, especially for £7.99!

40T went through 80mm oak on a beaten up 50yr old saw. Which was nice as I thought I was going to have to get a new saw.
 
Have a look at the CMT saw blades, fantastic quality / range and good prices too
