    Contemporary Scottish Targe

Hi Eugene, Thanks for your understanding. As my Dad would say, " A bad day at black rock", he was a big Western fan! I think he would have liked the Targe, the belt on the back actually belonged to him so the piece is quite sentimental I suppose. Anyway, off to sort out my finances...

    Contemporary Scottish Targe

Hi Johnny, I agree with you mate, it's all about the turning and we should just all get along right! The problem is that none of us really get to know each other very well on here, some of us have no doubt made some good Friends and others will have not. If I have let anyone down then it has...

    Contemporary Scottish Targe

Hi Eugene, You should be careful of your use of the English language in this electronic environment, I said the 'community' was small and insignificant NOT that the 'people' where, as you put it. I have met some of the best people I know on this forum, as individual 'people' are often...

    Contemporary Scottish Targe

"At what point does someone's appraisal of anothers work cause so much offence, to so many, that the individual feels they must remove themselves from the community that has welcomed everything they have to offer BUT - "without equal merit!" The 'Apperceptive' piece referred to in this thread...

In defence of the silent, or - my excuse for not commenting

Hi Folks, This apears to be a nice, open and honest thread so with that in mind here's my thoughts on it. We are all equal, in whatever we do! I am by no means an expert or an experienced woodturner, for those of you not awaire I have been truning for 2 years this very month. I say...

Hi George, Thanks mate, a lot of hard work and effort as you know but a great achievement none-the-less. Good luck with your own writing, look forward to it always. Aw the best, Lee.

    Contemporary Scottish Targe

Hi Folks, Thanks for commenting. Hey Jumps, the button was a simple cover for the mounting hole. Due to the slim nature of the blank. I could have used a flush button or plug but it doesn't interfere with your arm when it's in the belt. Hi Ian, I do have plans to create a matching Claymore...

    On the lathe lighting

Hi, Not too sure about the light actually inside a spinning hollow form btw! I certainly wouldn't do it, is the light you use plugged or what? I'm justing thinking spinning object, light, glass, electricity and you mention the word 'wet' a lot, could be dodgy mate? Cheers, Lee.

    On the lathe lighting

That's a shame mate, this one is very versatile. The flexable end can be turned anywhere really and the fact is magnetises to the lathe is a bonus. Maybe it just doesn't suit your set up and another option would be better. Hope you find the right one. Cheers, Lee.

    On the lathe lighting

Hi Folks, I just got this random gift for crimbo and it seems perfect for this job: It's magnetic at both ends and very strong, the light is on a telescopic rod and the last 5" or so is flexable. Ideal for sticking to the lathe and positioning anywhere. Runs of standard batteries and...

    AWGB

Hi, I mean no harm of thought or discent against the AWGB or any of it's members. However, I have some 'issues' at the moment that often lead me to think about all things in a negative, simplistic or unthoughtful way. I try not to go online when I feel this way as I can often say things that...

Hi Andy, Thank you for being disassosiative - it has confirmed why I no longer wish to be associated with the AWGB.

    AWGB

Hi, The term 'Another Woodturning Group for the Boys' is a Euphenism. Your literal interpretation is therefore misguided, quite why you reference Females in this context is beyond me. 3,000 Woodturners is but a small percentile of the entire 'Group' as a whole, even domestically in the UK...

    AWGB

Hi Blister, For £20 you could start your own association, make up your own rules, decide who you want to include, claim whatever you want and still have change for a Les Thorne DVD! Cheers, Lee.

    AWGB

Hi Blister, In my short experience I don't consider the work of the AWGB all that important to the world of woodturning. As I previously stated there is nothing that the AWGB can offer you that you can't achieve on your own. That means on your own terms, at your own expense and in your own...
