    MLT100 sliding table movement

Just wanted to say what great service I got from Axminster. Placed a return request and got a replacement + the faulty item picked up the next day :)

    which type of workshop heating?

There was a thread a little while ago that'd be good to read through: https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/work ... 46209.html

    MLT100 sliding table movement

I've just bought a Makita MLT100 from Axminster and on unboxing it and looking it over the sliding carriage moves from side to side 2 or 3mm at one end. The other end doesn't move at all. Is this something worth sending the saw back for?

Cutting plywood on bandsaw without splintering.

Thanks for the tips :) I'd absent mindedly been cutting the thin sheets on the ply with the guide far too high - lowered it right down and no more sideways wobble. I'll give the board on top of the table a go as making a ZCI will be a pain. The router table idea - brilliant. I hadn't even...

Cutting plywood on bandsaw without splintering.

I know a table saw would be ideal for this and I do have plans to get one but I could do with being able to do it on the bandsaw for now. Does anyone have any tips for keeping both cut edges clean for straight cuts in birch plywood? I can get away with putting something in place that will...

    workshop heating options

I'd have thought anything with an exposed heating element wouldn't be a good idea in a dusty workshop?

    workshop heating options

I'm looking to get some sort of heating for my single garage workshop. I'm fine in there at the moment but if it gets much colder it'll be uncomfortable. Was thinking of just getting a £30 oil filled radiator jobby from Screwfix.

    Small workshop layout.

Aye everything will be on wheels. Everything on the left will be the same height and the router table fence can just be taken off when the T/S is in use or I could pull it away from the wall and use it. halken - there is (or will be) tool storage under both workbenches and the brown inset bit...

    Small workshop layout.

Could anyone give me some comments/crits on this layout please? I have storage space in the beams of the roof for timber and sheet goods will be stored outside so there's no need for anywhere for them.

    Router table choices

I built my own router table but I did a fairly terrible job of it and just didn't look forward to using it. I saw that little Jessem one the other day and finally decided to buy it today. I'll be routing a lot of MDF so the bag containing the underside of the table should work out great. I'll...

    Cutting and joining 6mm plywood

So something like that? (Top and base are rabbeted too. Measures about 130mm cubed)

    Cutting and joining 6mm plywood

Thanks for the advice :) In regards to cutting without splintering I have to do so many cuts that doing a shallow scoring one first followed by a through cut isn't really practical. The edges of the box will be have a 1mm or so bevel on them so as long as the splintering doesn't go any further...

    Cutting and joining 6mm plywood

I'm trying to make some small plywood boxes from 6mm plywood. I've been having trouble with cutting it without splintering as well as joining it together. I tried finger joints but that hasn't worked out too well and is quite time consuming + shows the not too attractive end grain. I was...

    Longboard for little girl

This piqued my interest so I watched a few youtube vids and it seems it's best to construct the board using multiple laminates and bending and setting them on a form to get the curvature instead of hollowing flat boards. Check out youtube - some good vids on longboard construction.

    longboard builders

Very much doubt you'll find any on here but I'm sure there's plenty of people that know about whatever techniques are used to make them.
