Dust ports- so many different non standard sizes : (

Confusion perhaps with these types of plugs, the female connectors are in what looks to me as a male plug. Either way, I have done the correct way.

Dust ports- so many different non standard sizes : (

I converted all my tools with black pvc pipe ( long before 3d printers where in Aldi). Just heat it to shape and trim where necessary. Now they all accept the vacuum hose. I also ran a power cable along the hose and fitted a kettle plug (iec 13/14) to it. Then fitted the female end to the tools...

    Keeping workshop warm and dry.

Hi, Cilitbang black mould remover is pretty good at mould removal. Its a bit stronger than the regular bleach. Oiled filled radiators are good for keeping rooms warm and seem safe enough as are tube heaters. It will be difficult to dry anywhere out in winter.

    Slow dance

That's clever. I keep telling people it is not hoarding, the stuff is useful and has a purpose. Granted it has taken nearly 35 years for you to find a use for that disco ball :)

Chinese Copies of the Knew Concept Coping saws

Quite a bit of difference in the frame between them both. I wonder if the knock off will perform as well as the Knew Concept. It could be made from a different alloy too. The whole point of this style is the stiffness of the frame is it not. Best thing to do is buy the knock off and report back...

    Purveyors of coveted items

The panel hammers have polished faces. Those are the ones I would be interested in although I think I have most of the hammers I need now. Good to see stubby/compact hammers that are not snap on or martin. The snap on compact is my go to hammer for most dings, it has a nice balance.

    Has anyone used powertoolmate.co.uk ?

I have a bank account set up with not so much money in it just for using online. If it gets hacked then there is no great loss to recover. Maybe the hackers will take pity and put money in it :) I just transfer money over to it when needed, keeps the billions and squillions safe

    T tracks .

Hi, most people who make a sled for the tablesaw just cut there own tracks out of hardwood or some kind of plastic (uhmw plastic). It does not have to have the 't' shape for the rail to work just a snug sliding fit.

Would you go to all this bother to save twelve quid>

Quite sure you misinterpreted and misquoted that, just saying. The chair appears pretty good to me. I probably missed the point you are making.

Would you go to all this bother to save twelve quid>

DW, Who taking things personally? In the end does it really matter at all if someone makes a quick video just to put on youtube just to generate revenue and it works out for them. Pat on the back to them really. The OP question was would you go to effort to save a few quid, for me the answer is...

    Finger Belt Sander

Hi, Evolution tools have one that has a repositionable belt which could be handy in different situations. I use the B&Decker powerfile and once it dies I will likely go for the evolution. I have used powerfiles for many years in both wood and metal working.

Would you go to all this bother to save twelve quid>

Maybe it is not about the costs involved. Perhaps they just enjoy making things. If they make a video and get ad revenue then good for them. Nobody is forced to watch anything and can easily switch off the video if not interested in the content. I went to quite a bit of effort to produce...

Liquid PTFE any good? ... better than tape?

I use PTFE on parallel threads as its a lubricant too. Allows a nice bind free nip up on the olive or whatever. Taper threads get Loctite 55. I have standard thin tape, thicker gas tape and liquid and the 55 and use whatever I see the job needs. Also have boss white and green to hand too.

    £300 Mortice machine

Hi, at the 300 quid mark they are (seem to be) all clones. rutlands has one as does recordpower and SIP although the SIP10944 is around 100 quid dearer for what looks like the same spec. The recordpower bm16 does come with a 5 year guarantee though. I use it's bigger brother fm25 and it has...

    Squaring advice...

Bad idea. The aim of toe out at the back of the fence is to stop binding of sheets. The distance between the rear of the blade and fence is ever so slightly greater than at the front be it 0.5mm or 1mm. Toe in blade at the rear will bind and cause dangerous situations for you to get yourself out...

    Scheppach 240V Portable Band Saw

It is a metal cutting bandsaw. Use it for bar/flat stock and hollow tube. Less sparks than a grinder and faster than a hacksaw. Dont think there would be many uses in a wood workshop.

Looking for an accurate drill press

I was about to suggest this. Also the warco 2b12 I got last week was able to do what the OP is looking to do, 4mm hole through 45mm. If it is out then it is barely 0.5mm, in fact small enough to need a micrometer. Anyway the drill was only £310 and seems not bad, however the warco 3 in 1 formit...

A question you are probably fed up with

2b5 warco drill on eebay with a 20% off voucher just now. Only one left in stock. I just bought the bigger one, 2b12 and it seems good enough for drilling holes and has 16 speeds and 650w motor. Can feel no play in the quill I will post some pics in a bit....... 2 holes were out of shape but...

Arc or Mig welding, very confusing!

Hi, If you go the mig route you will find it much easier than arc. However arc is far more useful as it has its own gas shielding (flux around the rod) and lots of choices of rods/flux for different situations. I always found arc to be tricky. I do mig tig and oxy/acetylene welding, arc if...

    Clarke Pillar Drill CDP251F

Repair would be a likely case 150(if the motor) vs 700. Rather than jump to the motor straight off, you mention that the chuck dropped a bit. Does it now rest lower than it used too? It could be the quill assembly has loosened and dropped enough to knock out alignment. If out it could cause...
