A bit of fun with wood.

If it's Christmas stuff that you want to make, here are a couple more ideas. :) And here are the small deer in more detail http://woodgears.ca/reindeer/index.html .

A bit of fun with wood.

Many thanks bignomis. The disc is a 'Holey Galahad'. They are pretty expensive for what they are, but I was able to justify buying them as I also use them for cleaning up the tennons and half laps on my oak framing. I have all three discs, coarse, medium and fine, but the fine and medium are...

A bit of fun with wood.

Some more odds and ends. My daughter is now nearly 15yrs old, yet she still wanted to play with this a few weeks ago. :) These were made from wood that I pulled from the bonfire over at the sawmill. Legs were sadly too short! A fun nest box. Some oak gates and posts...

    Bavarian style framing trestles

Nice work Stef. :) Alex, I just use these http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-sa ... prod20298/ and these which are more than adequate for oak framing work. Just add a length of 50mm x 25mm to the top and the jobs done. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/25129669 ... =83&ff19=0

My Pizza oven, and its roof

Thanks for explaining about the board, I hadn't even considered the need for two. :) I'd also love your metal work skills, but sadly I just don't have the patience for it. :(

Green oak frame for wood fired oven. WIP

No problem with hijacking the thread. :) I'm aiming for a 42" internal measurement, and was originally going to put 50mm of vermicrete and 50mm of calsi board under the 75mm refractory brick floor. This aspect may yet change. The main oven will be built using refractory bricks cut in half...

My Pizza oven, and its roof

Very nice Stef, certainly food for thought there. :) Have you installed a dampner into the chimney design? I also wondered about the thickness of the pizza peel.

Very jealous, what a lovely build :) Please make sure that you post up the photos of the roof build as it commences.

A bit of fun with wood.

Thanks again for the nice comments. :) And sorry Melinda_dd. :) The wood for the T light holders has probably been seasoning for about 4 yrs. All of the T lights are just made from off cuts of fire wood that are on my log pile. I would imaging that anything that has been left for a year or so...

A bit of fun with wood.

Thanks for all the positive comments. For those that have asked via PM, I mainly use an Arbortech mini grinder. I'll post up a bit about the tools etc later on. :) But for now, here are a few more photos.

    Green oak pool house/changing room

Hi Ross, I have just started to read your timber frame/logstore project, and with your sense of humour, having you along for a day would be my pleasure. :) I've carried out the odd job at both Ansty, Bolney and Liphook, so next time that I'm out your way, I'll let you know. :) I've now sorted...

A bit of fun with wood.

Sorry Grayorm, yep the wavy sculpture was later finished with Danish oil, then yatch varnish. A few more larger pieces. I still need to fix this horizontally with stainless tube to the wall behind, then I can do away with the blocks of wood. More to follow. :)

A bit of fun with wood.

Before getting back onto the bigger stuff again, here are a few smaller pieces. I try to do as much of the cutting as possible on the bandsaw. These mice take about an hour and a half to make. Business card holder. This horse took about an hour, but I have just never got around to...

A bit of fun with wood.

As well as making oak frames, I also dabble with oak for a hobby. :) Much more to follow, including the full making of this 3.6m high pole.

    Green oak pool house/changing room

I was about three weeks work including making the frame. The biggest pain in the backside was a 40mm discrepancy in the height of the brickwork from one side to the other. I ended up having to cut the posts individually on site to suit. The other issue was this! Builders!!! The thatch...

Green oak frame for wood fired oven. WIP

Billybuntus, sadly I haven't really had the time, and it was something that I wish that I hadn't started. I'm over that now though, but still need to get some spare cash together to start the build proper. Flynwood, I'll have to Google Kleftiko in a minute, but what ever it is, if it takes 24...
