Little advice on best course of action for shed base...

Cheers guys! decided to leave the foundation as is and build the whole base out of 2x4 treated lumber, added a DPC and will level the shed itself but allow the underside of the floor to "breath" Hopefully it all works out! Built lots of sheds before but I am no brickie so working with concrete...

Little advice on best course of action for shed base...

Thanks for all the replies! really helpful! I decided to leave the base as is and raise the front to bring it all level, 2x4s as a shed base to give it that extra height with some DPC under the beams, should be alright it is after all just a shed! I will store some stuff in it mind so want it to...

Little advice on best course of action for shed base...

Long story short I'm banging my head against a wall trying to work out the best way around this, have a concrete slab and then slabs which was laid before we moved in, building my shed and have a rough outline but alas the floor is uneven by a good amount, I have attached photos to show the...

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

That is a fair point, chances are it will get a bit wet, especially as it will only have a breather membrane to project it haha i did think about just going for some cheap CLS from the likes of Wickes etc but maybe i might just play it safe and go treated ;)

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

Okay so i have to ask, how have you got away with using untreated wood? i was under the impression it wouldn't last outside? i considered using it but wondered how i would treat it to the same standard as bought wood that is already pressure treated? btw your sheds look amazing, great...

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

Depends if green mineral 40kg felt is a cheap option? ive no idea! im happy to replace in 5 years, maybe EDPM will become more viable then XD How did you find the foil stuff? i have thought about that as an option for my shed, full insulation wouldn't be worth it due to it being a hobby not a...

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

my old shed was 7.5ft so i know 8 would be nice XD but i dont want to loose to much of my garden ha! most of my projects are small, so handling sheet material isnt a major concern! Thankfully ;) I have a uPVC Door but i also have a really nice 1930s dougles fir solid door which looks just...

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

Hm, thats possible, would need to do it in reverse or work out some interesting designs to add the window to the long side! would save on shiplap though :D

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

I've just noticed that i never thought about adding guttering! probs a good idea i guess as the back would be much less attacked by rain. I thought when you said reverse apex you meant to do it opposite to what you had shown XD its okay though, I've now done 3 designs, pent, apex and reverse...

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

May i ask why you think reverse apex? the image you have added is what i wanted from the apex but is there a specific reason a reverse apex would work better? May i ask if you could explain a little bit more on the felt on the external sides? i cant see any on your image ha! The timber i can get...

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

I've sent an email to hopfully get permission to affix it to the wall, resting it on the top would look weird XD i'm just messing with the design and its abit low for my liking at the front but if i raise it up to 2m at the front the angle of the roof is really shallow which is my only major...

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

Wow lots of input here, thanks guys! i am leaning toward attaching to the back wall more and more as i plan it out, would be easy to do but would mean a more shallow pent roof if i do it, i intend on using felt still mind only issue i see with it is not being able to have the higher part of the...

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

Its at the rear of my property, there is a large area (14x6ft) that i intend on using for the shed, i like both and ease of building isn't an issue i enjoy woodworking so like challenges :D Jameshow pointed out about storage in the ceiling which i like the idea of, I'm a short chap so height...

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

So I'm in the final design stage of my new shed build and wanted to get some advice for the pros and cons of each. I am only 5ft 4" so height isn't a major factor...much! I intend on using felt on the roof with insulation later on. Here is a very rough 3d model of both with me in Blue ;) I...

    Maximum height of boundary....

Cheers guys, I actually contacted the team behind the building of the property who also confirmed this, now its just onto deciding apex or pent :D I will eventually once I've finished the design phase post a build log :D

    Maximum height of boundary....

So this is interesting, some may remember i post this picture below in another thread, something came up when I discussed permission to build a shed, i got it okayed from the Council, this is a Council home we intend on eventually buying - it is rented currently ;) Now this line is what...

    Sheds and boundaries...

I have seriously thought about doing this to increase the footprint but as i will be only working on one side i dont think i need it to be honest! Might do it just for the easy access to the back of the shed mind! We dont outright own our house it is council owned but we do intend on...

    Sheds and boundaries...

Ah you see this is the problem i have, i intend on installing a uPVC door, most of which are around 2100mm tall, that would also need to have a brace at the top, including everything thrown in the height soon jumps up, as i wanted to build a unusual apex style it meant I needed to raise the eves...

    Sheds and boundaries...

So I thought id show this to explain the read a bit better, the wall on the left with the small fence goes out to a small green area that isn't a part of out boundary, so you have about 4 meters of grass then the path, but we are from the walls height on the left that much lower than the ground...

    Sheds and boundaries...

This is something i am thinking about, I've decided my sheds size to be approx, 11x6ft odd size but its perfect for what i need, going onto some questions before i start the finalization though! Planning permission! I'm up to date with most of it but its a bit of a grey area in terms of the...
