    Online timber delivery time.

I’ve taken a punt on an online supplier for some Iroko bench slates because none of my local suppliers had any. It’s been nearly 3 weeks now with the bank holidays (they quoted up to 10 working days) … is this normal or have I been spoiled by the next day delivery I’m used to with consumer...

Replacement blades for Evolution R255SMS Mitre Saw.

Thanks to this group I found Tuff Saws for all my bandsaw blade needs, does the group have a similar recommendation for mitre saw blades? An small business or recommended manufacturer?

    Hydrofugo in the rain

I've been asked to make a plinth for a local football club so they can have the match ball on display in the run up to the start of the game, like they do in the Premier League nowadays. My question is, would something like Hydrofugo or Medite's MRMDF if they were painted, be up to the job of...

How to stop a bandsaw wandering?

Quick update for everyone, my blade from TuffSaws arrived and I fitted it this morning, reset everything from the blade tension to the guide wheels and we’re cooking with gas! Thanks everyone who offered advice, it is much appreciated.

    The MDf was fine.

How to stop a bandsaw wandering?

The blade doesn’t feel blunt, but it is just the one that came with the machine and given it’s a Ferrex special from Aldi I suspect it could be better. I have, but only in some 9mm MDf and a bit of pine. It is using the fence and the blade moves away from it. It’s using top guides at about...

How to stop a bandsaw wandering?

Other than the blade not being tracked properly, what else can cause a band saw to wander to the right like this? (I know, a table saw would be ideal but I don’t have one.) It’s Iroko wood so very hard but it’s dry. The one piece I have cut was under a lot of tension and warped straight away...

    How to extend stop blocks?

    That's a good idea 👍

    How to extend stop blocks?

I normally use the extension arms to make repeated cuts the same length, using them as stop blocks. What can you do to “extend” your stop blocks past the end of the reach?

    Free-standing temporary stud wall

I’m not going to have the bench in front, the lower half will probably just be wood storage. I also want the bench to be on wheels so can’t attach the wall to it.

    Free-standing temporary stud wall

@Fergie 307 because it’s a) it’s rented and I don’t want to damage the walls and b) I don’t think the current “cladding” on the wall is up to holding much load.

    Free-standing temporary stud wall

The place I’m using as my workshop is rented and inside a metal shipping container with plastic lining on the walls, not something I could really screw into even if I was allowed. I want to put up a temporary stud wall to kind of line the inside, but I don’t want to do the whole thing, I want...

    Workshop Insurance.

In the end I had to start a sole trader business (I already self asses for tax so it's no big deal) and agree to some extra security measures, sensible things really like having a good lock and not having any windows that can open from the outside. My local broker was able to get me a policy...

    Workshop Insurance.

The 2 main issues I'm having are: 1) I'm not a company, it's for a hobby so most insurance is for companies or sole traders. 2) The workshop is not on the same property as my homne so those policies don't apply.

    Workshop Insurance.

My local broker drew a blank :( Hey @galooph ! How the heck are you? I've just tried the insurance protector website but it's just timing out, not sure if it's a temporary thing or if they're not around any more.

Wanted Workshop in North Sheffield (S35-ish)

Quick update on this, I found a place via Facebook Marketplace in the end, I enquired about a container that had been used as a beauty studio and while the owner didn’t want it used as a workshop they did have a container coming up over Christmas which pi picked the keys up for over Christmas...
