    Shultzy's Router Table

Shultzy If the frame is 3/4 and the face frame is an inch and 1/4 there must be an overlap of 1/2" at outer panel and 1/4" each side of the dividers. How did you take up this gap when fitting the runners?

    Holding templates

I use double sided carpet tape (from Homebase actually) and you'd be surprised how little you can get away with!

    Shultzy's Router Table

Nice table. What do your drawers run on? The carcass is 3/4" but your face frames look wider and yet appear flush in the photographs.

    Mitre Gauges

I have it! Drill a 3.5 mm hole to the side of the gauge bar, this leaves about 1mm of metal between the edge of the hole and the edge of the bar. Make an anvil by drilling a 10mm or so hole in a piece of hard wood, place the small hole in the bar over the hole in the timber and place a tapered...

    Mitre Gauges

Yes - I did try that with a nail punch along the edges but it did not make an impression, maybe I wasn't hitting hard enough, but as you said I did not want to damage it. What did you use by the way??

    Mitre Gauges

Good Morning All - I have a Scheppach TS2500 table saw with a cast iron top. The saw is great but my only problem with it is the mitre gauge has a "wobble". I was thinking of buying a different aftersales mitre gauge to sort the problem out but I think the Scheppach style of slot is not what...

    Lost Jig design......

Hi Argus - I'm Pretty sure I remember something like it. It would have been in F&C. I'll take a look at a few front covers and see if it rings any bells.

Westonbirt - Who's Going And When?

Hi Philly - WE are coming on Saturday (Me, wife and the twins). Have you still got that Goncalo Alves chuting plane I liked?

    Band saw guide blocks

This is very true - I almost mentioned that in my original post. Do we here in the UK not think that the fixed guides are any good? Is it cheaper for manufacturers? (I can't really see that though). There does not seem to be the same variety of after sales options over here, or for that matter...

    Band saw guide blocks

Does anybody know of a replacement guide block or conversion kit to change from the roller type guide to the fixed ceramic block type. Only on my Record Power 350 the guide wheels never run true (plus they make an awful racket)

    Electrolytic derusting my experience (wip)

Whilst making mixture to ebonise some oak I put rusty nails in some white vinegar. a week later and the rust had gone! (just like Cillit Bang..or what ever its called) and the nails were shiny as new. Not what I wanted but I thought I'd add it to the post.

    Ebonising

Good evening all - I am undertaking a project currently and I would like to edge the primary wood with a distinctive black rectangular bead. I have successfully ebonised oak with a rusty nails and vinegar mixture but it does not sand or plane well (mostly because all the staining is planed away)...

European saw makes/models versus North American?

Philly I am going to look at the exact same saw on Friday - do you have any advice on what to look for, and what do you think of it? Regards Martin

    Basato 4

Saintsman - I looked forward to the BS as I though it filled a gap in their range. However when I saw it I was very dissapointed. It was not as good as my Record Power 350 (1mm veneer over 150 deep, not tried more than that but I bet it would still cope)

    T48 blade for ripping?

Sgian, you are obviously very knowledgable about such matters, can you explain how the "anti-kickback" pattern design works. Are we talking about when a piece rides up over the blade and dissapears over your left shoulder, in which case the riving knife should prevent this, or when a piece is...

    Spalted Beech

Thanks Gents - The wood is still very firm and is nice and crisp to plane but there are pockets of black "smudges" that do not look attractive. Is this "only to be expected" or is it symptomatic of "too far gone" I will send pictures once I've worked out how.

    Spalted Beech

I recently bought some spalted beech for the first time - but... How much spalting is too much?
