The main reason to seal both sides is to control moister in air if one side not sealed this creates different surface condition leading to warping. Even if you look at standard worktop they always have a waxed paper on under side.

I believe it was made in late 1940 – early 1950. I have strip vice down & cleaned, oiled all parts so in good working order the only thing is the 4 pin jaws are missing (should be able to get replacements made). Specification: Jaw size is 445mm x 180mm with a metal 100mm jaw on one 445mm side...

I had old type bracket that swiveled ,when not in use folds under drill and pulls out in front of door (which is wasted space) then tighten bolt on base to hold firm works well.

I find it very satisfying to find other uses for thinks for example I want to move bench grinder of work area. So when going through shed found old wall mounted TV bracket now fixed near work area a pull bench grinder out when needed.

Recently I had to make some very large door did not have any clamps big enough. So I used 45 x 95mm timbers on bench fitted wooden block to one end then used old fashion floor board clamps to clamp frames, worked well.
