How to remove 30yr old paint without damaging the details?

Hi now I’m confused. Used the bio strip paint remover and got rid of 2-3 coats of grey paint, only to find a glossy cracked white layer that does not react to the paint stripper? Pics attached. The base is definitely wood, so not sure what this is? The stripper I’m using is water based so...

Dewalt job site table saw - loose fence

Sorted... there is a tension screw/nut further along from the spring. A little tweak and it’s solid again.

Dewalt job site table saw - loose fence

Hi Just noticed when pushing the timber against the fence whilst cutting that after the 5th or so pass the fence has moved 1-2mm. Nothing looks worn and assembly shouldn’t be a problem as this is just starting to happen and I’ve had it a couple of years. Having looked at the mechanism, there...

Do you need to strengthen a mitre joint

Thanks to tomthumbtom8 (sorry I don’t know how to link a username)I think I’ll copy his idea if using resin spines, that way it’ll tie into nicely with the other items I’ve put together. His fantastic work below.

    River Table WIP

“Spines are cut now and glued with blue epoxy to tie it in with the top. wish I hadn't done this as it was really hard to contain the resin but I did learn a lot. ‘ After finishing my table and cabinet, I’ve still got some resin left over. Really like the look of this, and could come in handy...

Do you need to strengthen a mitre joint

Using 30mm solid oak. Not planning on a back board. Once in place it’s not going to get moved too much, so think I’ll give the router / splines approach a go. Cheers for all the feedback, wish me luck. Ps just seen a few vids on the sliding dovetail splines. These look great, might need to...

Do you need to strengthen a mitre joint

I’ve tried dovetails and come to the conclusion I need to visit an opticians. And although I like the look of box joints, I prefer the larger 1-1.5 inch, which I could do with the router but would need to set up a jig etc. As for tools I do have a table saw, hence the view that a mitre joint...

Do you need to strengthen a mitre joint

I assume as long as I get the right angle when drilling, that simple dowels will work just as well. I have limited tools

Do you need to strengthen a mitre joint

Hi Third project, as got some material left over from the cabinet. Dimensions are only 450x500. Would I need to add strength to this mitre joint on such a small piece?

First attempt at a river table

Yeah I know re legs. Will look to do something else at some stage but can’t decide on what yet. As for support, the table is actually sturdy and for the light use we have planned for it should be ok

First attempt at a river table

Sourced a nice piece of oak and had a go at making this, didn’t want to over complicate things so kept the legs simple. Next I’ll attempt to make a cabinet along the same lines with a piece I’ve got left over.
