Post a photo of the last thing you made

So. I was supposed to be in France on the bike this week with a group of mates, free of SWMBO as she won't get on the back of it :D Didn't cancel the annual leave I'd booked as I need a break. A little parcel arrived from china with a small live centre that I'd forgotten I'd ordered as it was...

Could UKWorkshopforum join to make some sort of PPE for NHS?

FFP3 masks have to be fit tested, which takes at least 10 minutes per person, assuming they pass all test on 1st attempt. I would assume that if the masks were a different model/brand they would need to be fit tested separately to the normal issue. So for a 100 masks it may have not been worth...

Sorry but what is the relevance of this in regard to PPE?

Could UKWorkshopforum join to make some sort of PPE for NHS?

Although the intention is appreciated, please remember we have to use PPE that is approved for our use. We have had lots of donations of things people have made that we just cannot use and have to discard. All our PPE must meet local / national guidelines for protection, and reusable items...

    Double-Sided Tape

Wait till you try and take something apart that you have stuck together with it  (hammer) The best bit about it is that the film does not break up as much when you remove it as cheaper tapes and less adhesive is left behind. But it is strong stuff.

Back saw blade depth in spine?

But that is not the british way old boy. Nanny would never have used such a lightweight form of punishment, reduces the enjoyment somewhat. Anyway Spear & Jackson using it in the 60's does not make it right, there were too many americanisms starting to come over by then anyway.

Back saw blade depth in spine?

Profuse grovelling for such a heinous crime, I shall immediately self flagellate with Holly or thorn.

Back saw blade depth in spine?

Having just bought a couple of old back saws for restoring and practicing sharpening I am confused, nothing new, about how far into the spine the blade should sit. On one of Paul Sellers videos he shows thumping the spine on the workbench, to correct bend in the blade, until you hear a solid...

    Woodyard near Lostwithiel

Hi all, I'm staying in Lostwithiel next week and have 2 days free from SWMBO, Fridays and Saturday. Are there any woodyards around the area that let you self select? My normal supplier is Surrey Timbers who have varying selections of hardwoods individually priced. They are perfect for me as I...

For the splinter strips I use this stuff Splinter strip, Just measure the thickness and width of the original and search for similar spec. Double sided tape Tesa Tape I've tried other cheaper tapes but the Tesa works best and is worth the premium price. Also the grip strip I use is this Soft...

    Ceramic frying pan

Carbon steel, the way proper Woks are made. Needs seasoning, coat with vegetable oil and heat till smoking. The more you use it the better the non stick gets. Never use washing up liquid or a dishwasher to clean just use hot water and a brush to scrub around it. Heat the pan to dry it after...

Dovetail saw - Cross / Rip / one saw for both?

Hi all, Not made any proper joints since school, several decades ago  I've done a fair bit of rough woodwork, stud walls, garden storage boxes that sort of thing. Nothing I would consider fine woodworking. I've been given the task of making a memory box for the SWMBO as her father...

Edited - Which track saw (rather than which circular saw)?

Titan from screwfix works really well, see Peter Millards youtube for setting up, especially the first cut to trim the splinter guard. The Aldi/Lidl ones seem Ok from what I've heard but they are only on sale once or twice a year. The tracks grip really well so no need for clamping the track...

    a little knowledge I didn't think I'd ever need ...

Well done, not easy to do correctly. And very well done for keeping a level head and knowing what to do, many would just have panicked and done nothing. Reiterate previous comment that a checkup (Why has C.H.E.C.K.U.P. been changed to self generated mistake?) is a good idea after abdominal...
