    New Scroller after advice

Hey you’re trying to help so I appreciate that i make stuff like the below. Its 3d printed and whilst some of it has an obvious base (or ground floor) the rest is open, I’d like to make bases that follow the shape of the building, and can be covered with flock or similar. Polystyrene is a...

    3D printer filiment

just adding to this. I purely use elegoo pla, bought direct from elegoo in 10kg batches, works out about a tenner a spool - I've used 50kg in the last year with zero tangles.

    New Scroller after advice

Hi all, I can see this has been asked before, but being as i've had messages saying the site needs more content I thought I'd ask lol. I make terrain for tabletop gaming, and one of the issues I have is basing stuff, I was going down the laser route but thinking a scroll saw would be a better...

Entertainment Unit - cost advice wanted

I had looked at peters videos. He actually has one on entertainment units too. The tool aspect is a bit of a downer as I don’t have the equipment to do a decent job and that certainly needs to be considered. Granted once I’ve got them I can use them again, just a case of weighing up the...

Entertainment Unit - cost advice wanted

Hi all, We use one of our downstairs rooms as a gym of sorts. It also is slowly being filled with my martial arts gear and stereo stuff. Anyway, i'd like a large entertainment unit built. much like this: https://www.nevillejohnson.co.uk/contemporary-lounge/ now that's a project that's well...

    High Gloss finish

Hi all, ok, so i'm thinking about making an entertainment centre in my gym/spare room. I've wall to cover which i'll probably do with MDF, it'll have three low drawers a worktop, shelves etc. Anyway, i'm wanting to have it coloured rather than wood. As i'm aiming for a grey/orange finish...

does anyone on here have an eBay shop

I’ve had a few online stores and never ventured into eBay. The costs are just nuts. But depends on your margins I guess, you’ll get better exposure and a larger audience but you’ll still be a small fish in a big pond full footer small fish. I’d recommend an estore. Various options there all...

    Workshop time

do you have a "men shed" project in your area? the one local to me have absolutely everything. I've not been myself but it's better than hiring something for a fee

    extension costs?

cheers all that's really useful. I'll "budget" toward the £1500 per m2. Think what i'll do is live here a little longer lol, see what we really definitely need and do a few sketchup plans and then get them drawn up properly. Least I'll have something to show a builder then. but could all be...

    extension costs?

anyone here a builder? one of the many projects we're considering at the new house... at the moment there's a daft sun room on the side of the house, connects to what we're using as a gym. I'd like to extend and knock out the party wall (so there would need to be a big steel bar holding the...

Damp-proofing and preperation for my garage

Ok, so, i've been in the garage for the last couple of days painting away with the sandex and it's coming along. Now, i've posted a couple of threads and will be getting the electrics done in the next couple of weeks, but i'm still a little unsure as to what to do from there. The roof...

Circular saw / table saw / see saw???

the main thing I tend to do at the minute is shelving and cabinets for the garage. I would however like to make a new TV stand for our lounge and we've a room i'm turning into a gym. The cupboards i've seen that would do the job are around £600. I don't really want to pay that for the use, so...

Circular saw / table saw / see saw???

Hi all, after some advice regarding saws. I tend to make things from sheet materials rather than planks and cutting is a pain in the rear. So thinking about getting a circular saw. I’ve seen some mini ones and they look pretty good but are they gutless? I’ll be cutting mdf/ply/conti board...

    Garage/workshop planning advice

Hi all, I’ve got the sparky coming round Friday to sort my electrics in the garage and I cannot decide what to do with the walls. I’m torn between painting the walls white and getting him to use steel conduit to route the cabling, or leave the walls get the electrics done then insulate and...

New guy with a blank canvas

certainly worth giving it a look. been having a play on sketchup, think i'm going to fill the back wall with B&Q cabinets, 2 wide ones on the bottom 2 wide ones on the wall, cheap worktop. comes in at around £150 all in. then my thoughts were to cover the wall with slatwall to allow me to...

New guy with a blank canvas

hi all, yeah i've been pricing up just having the back wall with 2 1000mm base units and two 1000mm wall units. bridge the gap with worktop and i've a gap for a chair too. Was looking at covering the walls with Slatwall - perhaps over a period of time as it's damned expensive and doing the...

New guy with a blank canvas

Hi all. new to the forum, and hoping to use your experience to steer me in the right direction. Just moved into a new property and wanting to make the most of the garage. It's almost a double length, little over single width. Rubbish door, poor lighting, fitted with an old kitchen and just...
