Hi all We are having our bathroom redone and I wanted to know if I could use a walnut or oak kitchen worktop from ikea as the size is good. Perhaps I would need to put a waterpoof coating on? Failing that what wood is best for bathroom use in general? Thanks

thanks for all the responses guys. i'm getting a portable screw in vice so i don't think i'll actually need the overhang. and most of the 'simple' workbench designs don't use one. and i'll definately be using one of the simple designs to kick things off.
