The legs and frame are Maple and I'm not worried too much about the exact colour they end up, my only real concern is, is it acceptable to use two different finishes on the same project.

Hi guys I'm going to finish this top with Rustins plastic coating to try and give it a high gloss and a lot of depth. The legs and frame will be difficult to finish with the plastic coating so is it ok to use a wipe on oil finish of some kind or must I finish all the parts the same, thanks,,Paul.

I'm not bothered but you can't just say it wasn't aimed at me when you say "to use your words", it seems very specifically aimed at me. I just think the chap who gave you a full refund deserves more credit, rather than saying he's talking baloney, the grading system seems to have been explained...

I'm only making a 3D coffee table and it's made from narrow pieces of Walnut and Maple so I don't mind what size boards I just need the colour to be even and dark.

Maybe it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, my £81 was for 25mm not 50. I went to Burtons in Brentwood this afternoon and got some nice grade Walnut £87 a cube and he also gave me some 5 foot pieces of Ash for nothing.

I got to be honest guys I'm really not happy with this, I'm after making a high quality coffee table and this just isn't going to do it.

Thanks for the reply, although it may not be classed as a defect there must be a limit on the % you have to accept, after all it is called black walnut and mine is more white lol.
