The advice I received was to never go cheap on router bits. They spin _really_ fast, and the last thing you want is for them to explode showering you with shards of carbide, or leave burn marks all over your otherwise beautiful work, or tear out big chunks of wood.

I also got the 12 piece trend set Phil linked to, and it was an excellent way to start. I never expected to use the ogee profile, but all the bits have had some use now.

One just popped up on Aldi for £20 including delivery. At that price its virtually disposable.

I was in the same boat when I bought this, but quickly found it invaluable. Roundovers, rebates, chamfers, pattern copying, recesses, etc. it's a very handy tool. I'll pick up a 1/2" router when I can, but the Katsu is more capable than I expected.

I picked some up from Lidl only last weekend, so you might still find them in the aisle of temptation in your local one.

Well it just arrived and it is clearly made and support by Einhell (WZTS 2000) as it says so on the top of the box. The table seems overall pretty flat. There are a couple of small depressions (3-4mm across where I think the mount is spot welded underneath) which won't cause me problem, but...

I ordered one of these as both my requirements and budget are limited, but if the top is too far out of whack I'll be sending it back.

I'm feeling slightly inspired by this thread, as the timber for my own workbench is sitting in the garage waiting for me to have a free afternoon to start planing it flat. Hopefully I'll get as good results.

I got the set from Aim Tools in May. It is exactly as you expected, the trimmer, fixed base, tilt base and plunge base. Nothing extra that you can't see in the photos.
