Looking to buy a replacement router for a UKJ lift without a NVR switch?

Don't know about the new law and incorporated NVRs but I have the same Axminster router table and a Triton router which works well, it doesn't have an inbuilt NVR.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Can you post a link to the videos please, I am about to make a Hall / Sofa table and on a few practice attempts the join is visible even though the grain is a good match, in your picture as Eric Morecambe used to say "you can't see the join"

    I almost cried today

I drove 60 miles to buy 3 big lumps of elm which the guy said was seasoned 3 years old with no cracks, when I got there he dragged the sections out from behind a shed, bone dry and big cracks in one end sodden wet at the other, all 3 were like that plus two had signs of worm or lava. Such a...

Vertical alignment of headstock and tailstock.

Thanks for all the replies. It is mounted on its legs on a concrete slab which unfortunately whilst being flat is higher at one end than the other, the lathe was trued up longitudinally and across the bed so no twist. I was using two centre points to check the alignment and checked they were...

Vertical alignment of headstock and tailstock.

Yes it's the elsewhere that has me scratching my head. Having adjusted the feet to take account of the floor to get the bed level longitudinally and transversely I can't see any other reason for it to be out of alignment. going to have a play this morning by lowering the headstock end to see ifs...

Vertical alignment of headstock and tailstock.

I have a record Coronet Regent lathe that is 10 months old which I haven't used for 5 months, workshop too cold. last week I moved it to a new workshop and spent a lot of time getting the bed level as the concrete floor has a slope. It was level when I finished with the headstock feet being a...

Advice on paint sprayers for emulsion paint

I have a Fuji HVLP which I have used for walls and a ceiling works well with the correct nozzle but it was expensive. Also bought the 2 L pot specifically for the house painting.

    Which Axminster Evolution chuck?

Buy the SK 114 all the jaws available for the SK 100 will fit the SK114 so you get the benefit of the larger jaws as well as the smaller sizes. I don't think the additional size of the SK114 is any real disadvantage.

    Suggest a finish

I have some European Walnut which is quite pale and am going to build a small 2 drawer entrance / sofa table. It's the first time I have used this wood and am wondering about what finish to apply. I have the ability to spray (HVLP) or roller and brush. So what would people recommend as a finish...

    Using resin

I would like to try using resin to fill voids before turning, is it really necessary to have a vacuum pot? If it is it's a step to far for me so any advice on doing without would be useful.

    DX delivery service from Axminster

Try them again I like you order a lot of stuff for delivery to France and don't have delivery or order problems the only difference now with Brexshite is that there are some items that they can't send and also orders have to be made via internet you can't do it on the phone.

    Adjustable vs Fixed Spanners

When I was working as a factory manager I was sick and tired of seeing rounded off heads on nuts and bolts. In the end I in consultation with the works engineer we bought each of 6 fitters a selection of fixed spanners, put shadow boards with dedicated station tools at all works stations then...

Axminster AT406WL or Record Power Coronet Herald?

The only issues I have heard of with RP lathes were the headstock clamping bolt for the Envoy and Regent but it's a simple fix RP will send out the new fitting if it is required all current lathes have been modified. The herald and 406 ar quite different with the 406 being almost twice the price...

Axminster AT406WL or Record Power Coronet Herald?

I was in a similar situation a month or so back primarily because of shipping I chose a Record Coronet Regent which was a little cheaper than the 406. I am just getting into the throw of turning and as far as I can tell it will suit all of my future needs and probably more. No doubt their are...

A bit of advice explanation please

Decision made and it's neither I have found a Record Coronet Regent for €30 more than the 406 and it seems a significantly better piece of kit. Now to source the tools chucks and the rest of the necessaries my wife will be pleased.

A bit of advice explanation please

I have settled on two lathes but really can one justify the price difference, they are the Axminster AT 350 WL and the AT 406 WL the real difference is in power the 406 is double at 1.5Kw which for sure would be useful as my skills develop the max diameter is 2" larger for the 406 and whilst the...
