Small shop dust extractor - Rutlands or Record?

I have used the same model of Microclene for many years, suspended over my lathe. It is efficient at removing airborne dust providing the size of your workshop matches the model of the extractor. I found filter replacement expensive but a cheaper alternative was to buy sheets of filter medium...

Why is my Record power bandsaw table big?

My 18 year old Record BS300 has table size of 400 x 500 (measuring the cast iron). RP changed the spec quite a lot in the years after my purchase. My BS300 has cast alloy wheels, they then changed to cast iron, the fence was upgraded and eventually the quick release blade tension was discontinued.

Passing Cyclists in UK with a car Genuine help question

Ding your bell as much as you like Jacob, many walkers won't hear it as their ears are stuffed with earphones while we try to avoid their dogs.

    Buffing kits

Before the Chestnut system was available I made my own with mops from the Polishing Shop. I turned three cones, 50mm long and 70mm diameter with a central hole to take a M10 coach bolt and a couple of locking nuts, and a tenon to fit my chuck . I fitted 200mm mops, a B grade for the tripoli...

    Bike maintenance

Upside down is not a good idea with hydraulic disc brakes. I hang my bike from the rafters with a couple of old innertubes. Works well for me and I ride off-road three times a week and have to clean the bike frequently now that the rain has started. ,

    Chuck jaw advice

I was a Toolpost customer from 2010 to 2018, so not one of his first customers. I found them always to be helpful, the only problems I had were with the jaw carriers for the Versachuck and these were always resolved in a friendly manner. Peter was generous with his time and advice.

We would have died for a Floppy Disc-when I started in computers during my National Service (RAPC) all input was on punched cards or paper tape!

    Staining Beech

I have a couple of projects on the go, both tables with turned beech legs. I wish to stain them to match existing dark oak furniture and had intended to use Chestnut spirit stain but have been told that spirit stain may go blotchy on beech. Is this likely? I only have experience of water based...
