    Favoured wood glue

I use the white Gorilla glue and can't fault it, the holding power is phenomenal.

    Sea Eagle Intarsia - WIP

Outstanding intarsia and also write up. Thank you Phill. How many hours would you estimate it took to make (not counting the tutorial)?

    Questions from a beginner

We all find fault in our own work because we know where we've drifted but I've learned that most of the time other people can't see what you're talking about - so don't talk about it :D You've done good work there, be proud of it. I've not broken a blade for months, it's down to your machine...

    Jigsaws

My biggest regret, they last toured when I was 18, I had no-one to go with so thought I'd wait for the next tour :(

    Jigsaws

I added three figurals, of sorts, to a four-layered jigsaw I made for my sister... an obvious heart between them, Shrek ears on her other-half, and my teenage hero Freddie Mercury stood on the bay. I think they add nice touches for people to find, I didn't tell her they were there.

    Getting detail

Don't get the drill press for the Dremel; I got one and it's utter s, h one, t. It does not drill vertically without applying pressure (e.g with a rubber band) to one side. Save yourself teh £25 and get a cheap "real" bench drill for £60. I got one from JTF and it's perfect.

    Dust Extraction

I have the Scheppach HA1000 and it is incredibly noisy. I also use a cyclone and can vouch for the effectiveness of it, catching 99% of all dust/chippings before it gets to the Scheppach filter. The Scheppach works well with the scroll saw but it is nigh on useless with my table saw, router and...

    Oak burns, perplexed!

Well it's the blade. I've changed again and this 3rd one (on this job) is like a knife through butter in comparison. Checked the teeth, definitely the same blade. Wonder if the first 2 were a bad batch?

    Oak burns, perplexed!

Yep blade(s) correct and the exact same piece of wood. Ambient temperature very similar. Just again had a burn on the mildest turn ever. Utterly baffled.

    Oak burns, perplexed!

On Tuesday I made, amongst other things, a horse shoe & horse, and a Lion King ornament, both from 20mm oak using Olson PGT reverse #5 blades, detailed in places, using my usual masking tape setup and had no burns, even on tight turns. Today I'm using the same wood, the same setup, the same...

    Something for the wife...

Last January I got one of the last ones of those when they were still called the Excalibur EX16 and assuming they're made the same you'll not regret it, truly a fantastic machine.
