Router table and router with lift

Thanks for the insight inspector. My queries are genuine. Simply trying to understand why this would be preferable to a collet.

Router table and router with lift

I find the triton switch lock helpful. Under the table I can find it with one hand while stood up (and i'm 6'4"). I agree its not hugely ergonomic, but its not a product killer for me. Not seen those muscle chucks before. A collet has long been preferred to a grub screw for the simple reason...

Hope none of you are affected

Note the massive bias towards ignoring the data and drawing conclusions to support your bias. Yorkshire and humberside (second largest spend) on your chart is certainly NOT south east. The spending is based on where there are people and property at risk. Far more people and more houses in the...

How the hell are you leaving fresh scones until the following day??? Skon.

Because that's not how fluid mechanics works.

Router table and router with lift

Most modern routers are designed to exhaust from the motor casing upwards. And they are also designed to have extraction through cowling and collect chips level with the router bit. In any case most of the down draft that was created was a by product of the bits rotation. I do however agree...

Router table and router with lift

I've not had this problem. I do have the router in an enclosure (box) with dust extraction to the rear to create a down draft. However the box has a fairly significant opening at the front also, so there is a lot of airflow.

Router table and router with lift

the triton TRA 001 and MOF 001 (the mof is the smaller brother) both have the same base fittings. I have the MOF. There are multiple kreg plates. Some come pre-drilled for various makes. Others are undrilled. That link lonsdale gave you claims to be the right predrilled plate, but the picture...

Router table and router with lift

Exactly the same set up i have. Many will rightly tell you that kitchen worktop is not flat - and they are right, but its plenty flat enough for what i do with it - plus you can make the top as long as you like and replacing it is not a huge undertaking.

    Replacing room thermostat

No problem. You said noddy question - i wasn't sure how noddy! :-) Chop block is the correct solution but if you are short of space then a few wraps of insulation tape are ok. These cables are carrying low voltage signals not mains voltage power.

De-rusting an odd nut and bolt

ISO Course thread - no M15 sizing ISO fine thread - M15 x 1mm OR M15 x 1.5mm pitch But you're right no M15 x 2mm pitch Drop it in some kind of mild acid, as previous poster says vinegar is useful and everyone has it. Then scrub it with an old toothbrush clean the acid off thoroughly and...

    Replacing room thermostat

It's worth mentioning that some boilers now have proprietary controllers wand to instal a 3rd party / replacement controller you may need to throw a couple of dip switches in the boiler, or move/remove a jumper cable or two. Again this should be in the boiler manual.

    Replacing room thermostat

To answer your first question, you need to understand what signals on what lines the boiler is expecting. Have a look in the boiler manual and it should tell you how to wire it to the controller. If it only requires three inputs then make a note of which three lines you connect to the boiler...

Router table and router with lift

I would recommend one of the triton routers as they come with a built in lift. A choice of three models based on motor size. For a table, if you aren't doing much I would sling it under a piece of MDF or ply and build your own table/fence. You'd have a chunk of change from your £400.

Glass or Perspex for cabinet doors

I've seen it called antique glass, lead glass (wrongly) and non-float glass in a couple of glass suppliers. It might be that the names are traditional or regional, so your local supplier may have several names

Simple router lathe for round legs

Sounds to me as though tyou are routing in the wrong direction - known as climb cutting - and the router is pulling away from the cut. In table saw terms that would be the equivalent of feeding wood through the blade from the back of the table to the front - sure it will cut (assuming you've...

Simple router lathe for round legs

The table saw is by far the scarier and incorrect choice. A table saw blade is not designed to be laterally loaded and also has much higher energy in the rotating mass than a router. So if it goes wrong on a table saw then its going very badly wrong. I suspect the main reason you see the router...

Router tables - cast iron or MDF & resin?

I have a Triton router too and i spent some time looking for a table and then built my own. I bought a pre-drilled Kreg plate (resin) with holes for the above table height adjuster. I used an old kitchen cabinet carcass for the table (reinforced with sheet material across the back panel to...

    Cutting and drilling slate

I've had success drilling slate with a tile drill rather than a masonry drill. Not tried sawing though.
